Moving Onwards and Upwards Together

Who are the Governors?

Sash Hamidi, Headteacher

"I am the #priestmeadproud Headteacher for the school! I have also been the Deputy Headteacher, a newly qualified teacher and former pupil of Priestmead! I am totally committed to ensuring our school continues to be the best it can be, working on the legacy from 80 years and with the governors building an exciting future!

As Headteacher I am accountable to governors regarding performance in data, finance and strategic direction.  I present termly reports as well as ongoing updates.  I meet the Chair of Governors fortnightly and she monitors and challenges me to be the best I can be for our children."

Seeta Mepani, Chair of Govenors

"I have been associated with the school for over 9 years, 5 of which as a Governor and this is my second year as Chair of Governors. I have worked as part of school leadership team and have an interest in school development, raising pupil aspirations, Governance and ensuring pupils are at the heart of all decisions.

Priestmead is an amazing school and I am honoured to be a part of the Governing Body."

Lucia Perdoni, Clerk

Nabeela Khan, Staff Governor

"My name is Nabeela Khan and I am an HLTA at Priestmead.  I have two children who are still in the education system.

This is my fourth year at Priestmead and I started my career in Nursery as a Nursery Nurse and then last year progressed to an HLTA, supporting the middle phase.  In my role as a support staff governor I will ensure the work undertaken by Support Staff will be valued to its fullest and given the voice it deserves.

I feel it is important to help Support Staff as they play a valuable role in children's learning and development."

Cllr Vina Mithani, LA Governor

A good governing body is vital to a school’s success

I have always been very passionate about education and about ensuring we equip our children with all the required knowledge, skills and attitude that would help them make tomorrow a lot more thriving and a happier society.  I would like Priestmead to be an outstanding school in coming years and would like to work with the Head Teacher to achieve that goal.

I will be a critical friend-  to support the work of the Head Teacher, being open to ideas, criticism and have a willingness to listen to and ask critical questions and challenge when need arises.

I have also been a Kenton West Councillor since 2002 so I am aware of the needs of the local community and where possible can assist the parents and residents with their issues/concerns. I am committed and approachable.  Being a Councillor has taught me corporate values, the art of motivating teams and managing change and also empowered me with decision making skills.  These skills are very critical to take up the responsibility of a school governor. I would leave no stone unturned to contribute positively for the school, teachers, students and all stakeholders.

Jamie Rogers, Staff Governor & Deputy Headteacher

"My name is Jamie Rogers, Deputy Head Teacher and Staff Governor of Priestmead. Since arriving at the school I have been committed to maintaining high standards in teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with the school’s governing body has enabled me to ensure Priestmead continues to grow from strength to strength each year. With governing body support, we will be continuing to improve the school this year by implementing innovative approaches  and continuing to push outdoor experiential learning throughout the curriculum."

Keith Savage, Community Governor

“I have been a Governor at Priestmead for over 20 years fulfilling several roles, Parent Governor, Community Governor and Local Authority Governor.  I am honoured to have been elected Chair of Governors for the 17 consecutive years until standing down in September 2015.

I am a Senior Project Manager and I bring these professional skills to the role of a Governor, I also bring life skills and experience to the role as well.  I lead the Scout Group that meets at the school, and has done since its formation in 1946, with the majority of our members being Priestmead pupils”.

David Hughes, Staff Governor

Zeeshan Khalid, Community Governor

Andre Chrysostomou, Parent Governor

Aliya Dhanji, Parent Governor

Sadiq Merali, Parent Governor

Bhavini Bhatt, Parent Governor

"The purpose behind serving as a governor is to become a vital link between parents and school /local authority to improve the areas which needs attention and beneficial for the school and its children. I also believe that good communication between the school, parents and pupils is essential.

I am passionate about education and welfare of the children, in my opinion, the first years of the child's education are crucial to their later academics, therefore a clear direction and leadership is the key to an effective school governing body for the success.

Just like any every other parent of Priestmead school, I want best for my both children. So as parents we support the school, but, when needed should not hesitate to put school in tough scrutiny."

Andrea Callender, Staff Governor
